Loup-Garou (1973) June 1973, Vol I. Tales of Terror and the Macabre: The Haunt of Horror. [as aa Attanasio - apparently the odd capitalization was a typographers whim]. This magazine is a little hard to find, partly because there is another with the same title. Marvel Magazine Group began publishing a pulp magazine in June 1973, called Tales of Terror and the Macabre: The Haunt of Horror. It was a small format, like Asimov's magazine or F&SF . There were interior black and white illustrations, but it was primarily a collection of horror short stories, definitely not a comic book. The cover story of this inital issue was Fritz Leiber's "Conjure Wife" (shown to the right) (Ed. Gerard Conway, Publisher Stan Lee). The title went dormant after two issues and was revived - starting over at issue number one - as the the Marvel horror comic book Tales of Terror and the Macabre: The Haunt of Horror. (Published in regular comic book format.) Visit Nikki Pearl at www.satanashaunt.net. for a plush site on that and many other Marvel comics. (Attansio was not involved with the comic book.) |
